Lucia was the best friend I made in grad school. When I tried to track her down recently, I discovered that she had passed away nearly eight years ago. How I regret we did not stay in touch! Lucia brought a special light to every room she entered. What a special person she was.

John, JF, and Family... Lucia's light burned so bright! I will miss her laugh, curiosity and bright spirit in this world but know that this lover of adventure has just begun the greatest adventure of all! Wishing you all peace and comfort in the days and weeks to come.

No one could have been more fortunate than I to have such a good sister. I will never have a river adventure that you will not be with me in spirit. They won't be the same.

Lucia's legacy of thoughtful leadership and laughter was a gift to the staff, students and volunteers of Bryant Elementary School. The children were always the focus. She will be missed by all of us who had the privilege to know her.

I will miss our yearly summer lunch on Lucia's porch with Marcia and Shelly - sharing of life long memories together. I will miss howling hilarious conversations with Lucia about the most outrageous matters. Lucia rescued me from my great fire. The world has lost a precious dimension for me. God speed, dear.

May God keep you and watch over you for all eternity. All that knew you will have a deep emptiness in our hearts.

I cherish the memories of the wonderful conversations with Lucia and Shelly on our MO River pontoon boat adventures. Night-owl Lucia would talk far into the night. She said she always knew when the conversation was over when we quit responding - because we had fallen asleep. The world is grayer Lucia, without those conversations.
