Marie Vogtner Soutullo, age 90 of Huntsville, AL, previously of Mobile, AL passed away on Tuesday. Marie was a loving wife and a devoted mother of two children, Pat and Mike. She was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama where she worked for Gulf Mobile & Ohio (GM&O) (then Illinois Central Gulf) Railroad for over 30 years until she retired. Marie was also active in the Elks Emblem Club and volunteered with Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband Marion Xavier Soutullo (Duke); brothers, Francis Vogtner, Thomas Vogtner, James Vogtner, and sister, Alice Jernigan. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons Marion Patrick Soutullo (Charlotte) of Mooresville, NC and Michael Anthony Soutullo (Becky) of Huntsville, AL, her brother Robert Vogtner (Minnie) of Mobile, and her sister Jane Gunthorpe (Guy) of Las Vegas, Nevada, 4 grandchildren in North Carolina and Texas, 6 great-grandchildren in North Carolina and 1 in Texas.
Marie enjoyed ballroom dancing, sewing, cooking and reading. Marie requested that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in her memory to Infirmary Hospice of Mobile.
Marie loved to join family and friends together. Join them Friday, September 5, 2014 from 11:00 until noon at the Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL 36619 followed by a short memorial service held at noon. Pat and Mike will be offering reflections on mom's life and expressing our hope in her new life to be spent in eternity with our Lord and Savior. Interment will follow the service at the gravesite to include relatives only.
