Anna H. Lachut, age 96, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away Friday, September 5th, 2014 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility in Montour Falls, NY.
Anna was born in Elmira, NY on December 10th, 1917, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Bridget (Hoberak) Wantuck. Everyone loved Anna's positive attitude, she would say "What do I have to complain about". She had a great sense of humor. She loved family, her flower garden, little kids, cats, dogs and a beautiful blue sky. She had a fascination for clouds. When her angels came to take her to heaven she must have had a journey around and through the majestic formations of God's handiwork in the clouds.
Anna is survived by children, Helen Marie (James T.) Murinchack of Austin, TX, Frank (Cynthia Marie) Lachut of Cincinnati, OH, Margaret 'Peggy' (Lenier) Coons of Watkins Glen, NY, Rose (Tom) Cook of Odessa, NY, and Stanley Lachut Jr. of Watkins Glen, NY; grandchildren, Jeffery A. Murinchack, Patrick Mason Lachut, Timothy Michael Lachut, Chris White, Bryan White, Tracey (Greg) Cook Gavich, Tammy (Nate LaMoraux)Cook, Travis (Seena) Cook; Jamie Lachut, Beth (Terry) Alverson Rought, and Ryan Alverson; great grandchildren; Sterling and Sydni Murinchack, Catin Nichol and Evan Patrick Lachut, Brionna White, Samantha, Manley, and Gina Gavich, Kendrix Cook, Keagan and Kate Rought, Alexander, Skylar, and Gabriel Alverson; and her sister, Josephine Burdick. In addition to her parents, Anna was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Lachut in 1970; sister, Mary Quinn; brothers, Frank, John, Joseph, Michael and Stanley Wantuck; grandson John P. Murinchack; and great grandson, Jonathon Russen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1pm on Wednesday, September 10th, 2014 at St. Benedicts Church, Speedway, Odessa, NY with Father Steve Lape, celebrant. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Watkins Glen, NY. I am sorry about your mom's passing. I always think of her when I see someone making dumplings on TV the same way she taught me so many years ago. I will always have fond memories of her.
