Mr. Mark J. Collins, age 65 of Hopkinton, NY passed away on December 30th at his residence. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Friday, January 2nd from 2-4 and 7-8:45. At 8:45 the Elks Lodge will perform a service followed by a final prayer from the Elk's Chaplain. Mr. Collins will be buried at a later date at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Colton, NY. On line condolences can be sent @www.garnerfh.com. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Parishville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squads. Due to family allergies, if any arrangements are sent they request dish gardens or just green plants. There will also be a luncheon gathering at the Parishville Fire Hall at noon on Saturday, January 3rd. Feel free to bring a dish to pass or bring a paper product contribution.
Mark is survived by his wife Denise Collins; his son Robert (Michele) Collins of Pittsfield, MA; daughter Jennifer Collins and her companion Matthew R. Carr of Madrid; brothers Steven (Suellan) Collins of Hannawa Falls and Glen Collins of Potsdam; grandson Matthew Smith of Madrid; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, an infant brother Joseph Collins and a sister in law Sharon Collins.
Mr. Mark J. Collins was born on September 13, 1949 in Potsdam, NY to the late Wallace J. Collins and Grayce E. Sullivan. He was a graduate of Potsdam Central High School. On August 27, 1976 he was married to Denise Elaine Bradley. He was a Senior Groundskeeper at Clarkson University from 1979 to 2006 when he retired. Mark really enjoyed the outdoors. Fishing, hunting and spending time at camp were some of his favorites. For many years in the past he enjoyed boating on Cranberry and Carry with friends and family. He loved socializing with family and friends and going to his grandsons sporting events.
Mark was a member of BPOE Elks Lodge 2074; Sons of Amvets #265; Stag Hunting Club; the Township 19 Hunting and fishing Club and he was a past member of the Hannawa Falls Volunteer Fire Department for 17 years.
