Clifton Davis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 27, 2015.

Cliff (Clifton) Oliver Davis Sr. was born on January 12th, 1938 to Clarence Osborne and Janie (Parker) Davis in Coalgate, OK. Cliff attended both Gresham and Sandy High Schools, graduating from Sandy in 1956. While attending Gresham High School he met Ann Carol Spencer and they were married from 1956-1962. During this time he served in the National Guard and also attended Mt. Hood Community College. They had three sons, Clif (Clifton) Jr, Gene and Scott. They also had one daughter, Janie.

In 1963 Cliff married Verna (George) Allison, together they had a daughter, Cindy, and raised two of Verna's children from a prior marriage; Donna and Randy. They divorced in 1973.

1978 Cliff married Joan Eleanor Kohler and together they raised Joan's four children, Linda, Tom, Bob and Steve. Joan passed away in 2000.

Cliff was a man with many hobbies. He enjoyed singing Karaoke, playing pool, hiking and traveling. He was also involved with the Lions Club. Cliff was always willing to help a person in need, and he insisted on paying the check when dining with friends or family. He was a strong willed, yet kind-hearted man and he managed to push through adversity and live an extremely successful and fulfilling life.

Cliff was preceded in death by two of his children, Randy Allison and Janie Davis; and sisters Nola Ross and Lucille Wood.

He is survived by his partner of many years, Maricia Brandon; children Clifton Oliver Davis Jr (Theresa) Gene Wayne Davis (Rhonda), Scott Alan Davis (Doreen), Cindy Louise Mc Queen (Gary), Donna Wilson (Steve), Linda Marie Grimm, Tom Metalak, Bob Metelak and Steve Metelak. He is also survived by his siblings Marie Ward (Jim), Don Davis (Marsha) and Florence Lambert (Homer), 17 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

My thoughts and prayers are with Cliff's family. I did not know Cliff very well but he was always such a friendly fellow and I enjoyed hearing his karaoke and shopping at his fruit stand. He always had the best flowers. He will sure be missed on this mountain.

Oh, Cliff. The stories we could tell about years living on the mountain: Thriftway manager (you were the best one ever), music lover (always happy to see you come through the door), singer (you rocked karaoke wherever you went), and just all round fun guy to hang out with. Always, always, you were a true friend. You will be so missed. Rest in peace, Cliff. I miss you already.
