Ruby Sheets Wheeler, 88, a resident of Staunton, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Kings Daughters Nursing Home, after a brief illness.
She was born on December 5, 1926 in Augusta County and was the daughter of the late Mohler Parkins and Mary Louise Katherine Brown Sheets.
Ruby was a lifelong resident of Augusta County. She graduated from North River High School in 1944 and was a member of Verona United Methodist Church. She was most recently employed at Dollar General in Verona, JCPenney and Evers Family Restaurant.
On June 27, 1949 she married Ralph B. "Chick" Wheeler, Sr., who preceded her in death on January 18, 1984.
She is survived by two daughters, Gail W. May and husband, Ricky, of Mt Sidney, Donna W. Huntley of Verona; a son R. Blair Wheeler, Jr. of Staunton and girlfriend, Kim Chandler of Verona; four grandchildren, Brandy Augustin, Chrystal, Trever and Katie Wheeler; six great grandchildren, Kailey Shover, McKenzie Wheeler, Gianna, Bristol and Myles Fralin, Hayden Augustin; two step-grandchildren, R. L. May, Jr. and Jackie Hite; three step-great-grandchildren, Lily, Madison and Lucy; one brother, Garlin Sheets of Staunton; one sister, Nancy Craun of Mt. Solon; a number of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews; and a special caregiver, Geneva Wimer.
She was also preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
The family will receive friends 6-8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 4, with Rev. David Burch officiating. Burial will be at Augusta Memorial Park.

Gail and Family it is with a heavy heart that I morn the loss of Miss Ruby. She was such a sweet and caring soul. I have missed her so since she moved. I used to love talking and spending time with her. With deepest sympathy my thoughts and prayers are with you.
