Thomas Core Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 9, 2015.

Thomas W. Core, Sr., of Orange, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. He was 88 years old.

A visitation will be held at the LaMonica Memorial Home 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave. Livingston on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 3-9 pm.

Born in Belleville, NJ, Tom lived in Bloomfield for many years before moving to Orange in 1977.

He was the owner of Core's Tavern in Bloomfield, an establishment built by his father in 1936 after prohibition. He was named Bartender of the Year in 1986 and will be sorely missed by the many patrons he has served over the years.

Thomas was a Merchant Marine during WWII where he served his time with the Coast Guard aboard the Defiance, the Anthony Wayne, the Muntropic, the Ephraim W. Baughman, and the William Cushing.

He was also a Certified Scuba Diver and Instructor at the YMCA in Newark many years ago.

He was the beloved husband of the late Ezaura (nee Sobral), loving father of Thomas W. Core, Jr. and his wife Roseann, Kevin Core and his wife Gina, and the late Glenn Core, cherished grandfather of Cristal, Candice, Thomas W., III, Christopher, and the late Jason Core, and dear brother of the late Marie Stock, Ann Piccone, and Enrico Core, Jr.

In lieu of flowers kindly make contributions to St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital.
