Virginia Lee Farmer, age 90 of Rock Island, passed away on March 14, 2015 at UnityPoint Health Trinity, Rock Island.

In accordance with her wishes, her body has been cremated. A memorial visitation will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family.

Virginia was born on January 27, 1925 in Floyd County, KY, the daughter of John and Polly (Perry) Collins. She had two sisters and 4 brothers. She was an entrepreneur who owned two restaurants in the Quad Cities: Vera's Café in Rock Island, and a small diner, formerly known as Al's or Virginia's Diner in Moline. Prior to moving to the area, she had owned and operated restaurants in other locales.

Virginia loved cooking, and passed on her passion for it to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed tending bar at Murphy's Tap in Rock Island for many years. She was a very caring woman who would help anyone she could. She loved people and spending time at home with her family and cats. She had been a member of the Rock Island Boat Club, Friends Circle Club, Moline, and the VFW Women's Auxiliary in Rock Island.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Harley Marion, Kearney, MO, Diana (Bob Rozankovic) Breshamer, Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Carol (Steve) Hodgerson, Tipp City, OH, John (Sue Dell) Frankville, Rock Island, and Pam (Dick) Yakovich, Rock Island; grandchildren, Jon Edward, Gillian, Nolan, Chantel, Rachel, Lauren, Wesley, and Tanner, and 6 great grandchildren.
