Jay D. Ertel, 54 of Bluffton passed away at 8:19 pm on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Lutheran Hospital. Jay was a 1978 graduate of Norwell High School and was a graduate of Huntington College. He worked for Chesix as a marketing manager. He opened his own gaming shop "The Keep" and worked there until his retirement. He was a member of SOA, a medieval reenactment club. He was an avid gamer.
Jay was born on September 5, 1960 in Wells County, a son of Alva and Trudy (Scarberry) Ertel.
Survivors include two half-brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no visitation or funeral service.
Memorial donations can be made out to American Diabetes Association in care of Myers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 403, Markle, IN 46770.

Mr. Ertel was my teacher at Christian Center in the mid-80s. He was a brilliant, funny, and considerate man who fostered my love of comic books, comedy, and reading. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed.
