Virginia, Sandra, Deborah & family: I'm sorry to hear of Jack's passing. I worked for Jack in Medina as a kid back in the late 70's. As you know Jack was well known, liked, & respected across the country. I traveled with him on several buying trips ranging from the Southern Tier to Tupelo MS (where they'd promptly say "close the doors the Yankees are here" as we walked into the auction). Prior to moving to Sanibel FL, I joined the fire service and served in several capacities under Jack when he was CD Director. He was a stand-up guy whom you could always count on. I've recently retired and moved to Bemus Point NY and I'm sorry I did not look him up, as you were so close. I have many fond memories of times with Jack & Joyce. He certainly was one-of-a-kind. I attend many auctions and I often have been reminded of him. My prayers and thoughts go out to you all.

I was very sad to read of Jack's passing. My husband Dave Harter and Jack were Civil Defense Directors at the same time. Jack was one of those people that was always ready with a joke and his never failing humorous attitude was great to be around. My prayers and sympathy go to his family and friends.

I have great memories helping Jack at the auctions for many years . So many people looked forward to the next auction from year to year, just to see Jack. I am so great full that I just spoke to him a week ago. He will be truly missed and what a great guy he was. RIP my friend.

Some of my fondest memories are attending any Auction that Jack ran. You always ended up buying something and he was always picking on us. Life will not the same without him.

I met Jack in 1960 when we were young men playing semi pro football against one another. We really became close , long time friends as a result of the beer parties after the games. Jack always made sure the gatherings were memorable. We renewed our friendship in 1962, when I joined the State Police and was assigned to the Albion outpost for several years while residing in Albion. Our paths crossed many times over the years and Jacks wit & humor never ended. I always respected him for who he was, a down to earth person & true friend. Until we meet again.
