Rudolph Masters Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 29, 2015.

Rudolph "Rudy" Masters, Jr, passed away, Thursday, May 28, 2015 at his home on Church Street. A lifelong resident of the state of Virginia, he was born to the late, Rudolph and Katherine (Galentine) Masters in Washington, DC in 1940. Rudy is survived by his wife, Shirley Masters. They are members of First Presbyterian Church.
Rudy was a principal in Virginia Capital Management of Virginia Beach. He received his B.A. from Old Dominion College in 1964. As a consummate workhorse, Rudy had a robust professional career – he also was an innkeeper, insurance agent, and licensed stockbroker. For fun, Rudy worked with his wife to renovate their Victorian-era home, played cards on the computer, doled out advice (solicited and unsolicited), asked waitresses for discounts and set up hug and kiss booths along the East Coast.
Rudy is also survived by his sister, Mary Masters Webb and husband, Steve of Boston, MA; his sons, Mason Masters and wife, Julie of Powell, OH and Carter Masters of Veneta, OR; two step-daughters, Christie Walsh-Myers and husband, Michael of Baltimore, MD and Holly Walsh Conklin of Virginia Beach, VA; four grandchildren, Parker and Peyton Masters, Reid and Ava Conklin.
In keeping with Rudy's miserly wishes, no services will be held.
In lieu of donations, invest wisely.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Staunton Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.

The tales I would hear from my parents of "Rudy". I finally met him in 2008. What a character and indeed a man that had character. He looked out for my parents and then me. He had a knack for truly making one feel special. He lived a good life. Memories are now treasures. Peace be with you Shirley.

Rudi was a consummate professional and a trusted friend. I appreciate all of the advice he gave me over the years; I only went wrong when I didn't follow it to the letter. He had a gift for making others feel valued, respected and confident. He will be greatly missed.
