Ruth Carpenter Bailey, age 86 of Nashville passed away on July 2, 2015 in the Vidant Medical Center, Greenville NC. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
She is preceeded in death by her husband Dercie Earl Bailey, mother and father Cleora Williams and Walter Gray Carpenter SR, three brothers Alton, Walter Jr and Redmond Carpenter, sister Anna Whitman.
She is survived by her daughter Kathryn and Larry Warrick of Rocky Mount, two step children Tommy and Linda Bailey of Rocky Mount and Jo Todd of Bailey. 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Six sisters: Kay and Marvin Lynch of Wilson, Betty and George Earp of Spring Hope, Mavis Webb of Henderson, Roselle Tyson and Rochelle Whitehead both of Nashville and Eleanor Howell of Grifton, two brothers: Ravin Carpenter of Nashville and Truman and Myrtle Carpenter of Angier. Several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held July 6, 2015 at 7 PM in the Chapel of Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount with the Rev. Mike Coggins officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the service until 9 PM. The interment will be in the Forrest Hills Cemetery Tuesday, July 7th at 11AM. The family will receive friends other times at the home of Roselle Tyson of Nashville. The family would like to thank the staff at the Golden Living and Vidant Hospital for the wonderful Care she received.
