Larry W. Downey, age 68, of South Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at UT Medical Center. He attended Lakeview Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mary Coker Downey, and brother Marvin Downey. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Diane Brewster Downey; son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Lisa Downey of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Tammy Downey Wilson of Knoxville; grandsons, Peyton Downey and Chase Wilson; and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 2200 John Sevier Highway on Monday at 9:30 AM for graveside services, Rev. AJ Crawford officiating. Full military honors will be presented by Volunteer State Honor Guard. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com.

Diane I know we have not talked in a long while but there is hardly s day that I don't think of u and Larry it just seems like yesterday that we were doing all the crazy things we got into together u both were truly my best friends and my heart broke for u when I picked u the paper and saw that grin that I have seen so many times we were both so lucky to find someone to love for the past 40 yrs u were always like a little sister to me and I just want u to know I love u still I am not going to say this will be easy but with gods help u will make it through Larry was truly a good person and I know he will be missed by many just be strong he would want that agin I love u if u ever want talk call me 5461150
