Michael Kobb Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 12, 2015.

Michael P. Kobb, 59, of Memphis, passed away August 11, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Donna Kobb. He is also survived by his parents, Philip and Mary (Perri) Kobb, daughters, Melissa Klidas (George) and Lindsay Kobb, and his grandchildren, twins George and Zoe, and Nathan. He also leaves his sisters, Mary Ann Herrick and Eve Dowdell. Mr. Kobb was raised in Elyria, Ohio where he graduated high school and played on the Ohio All-State Football Team. He was a graduate of Indiana State University. After high school, Mr. Kobb began his professional career at Allied Signal where he worked for over twenty years. While at Allied Signal, he worked as an international precious metals stock exchange broker; his responsibilities there allowed him to extensively travel abroad. Later, he worked for and retired from Thomas & Betts, where he was selected as the People's Choice Plant Manager of the Decade in 1999. He also worked as Facility Manager of the Central Distribution Center in Byhalia, MS, and most recently as Director of Sales, Inventory, Operations, and Planning. In his spare time, Mr. Kobb enjoyed cooking and entertaining, even taking gourmet cooking classes. He was a golfer, participated in skeet shooting, was an excellent woodworker, and completed many "do-it-yourself" projects around his home. Mr. Kobb was of the Catholic Faith. He also volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and a basketball coach at Boys Town. Mr. Kobb enjoyed the company of his family and friends and was a hard-working, dedicated employee. There will be a visitation on Thursday, August 13 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be Friday, August 14 at 2 p.m. The funeral and visitation will be at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN 38133. Pall bearers will be his three brother-in-laws Darrell Bolin, Gerald Galloupe, and Robert Warren, as well as close friends, Dave Wells, Jim Poe, and Jack Henderson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to The Ride to Fight On, www.ridetofighton.com, sponsorships given to Father Patrick Hirtz. My condolences to the Kobb family for your loss. I have had the pleasure and joy to know Mike and Donna for many years--since they lived in Tulsa. I knew that every time I called to speak with them, Mike would have a joke to tell! I loved that about him. I know he fought the good fight and am sincerely sorry that I wasn't able to visit before his all to early departure. Donna, know that I am with you in my heart and wish I could be there with you now. I will be with you in the near future and to Mr. Mike--"keep "em laughing up there" Love you!
