Calvin Ray Courville, 73, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015.
He was born in Thornwell and was a lifelong resident of Welsh. Calvin was a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. He farmed rice and soybeans for 23 years. Calvin served on the Jeff Davis Police Jury for 24 years. He loved farming, hunting duck, and football, especially the Saints.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Chapman Courville; son, Carl Courville of Corpus Christi, TX; daughters, Melissa Coulter and husband, Chuck of Kerrville, TX, Melda Courville of Welsh and Miranda Manuel and husband, Steve of Oberlin; brothers, Robert Courville of Roanoke and Jay Courville of Welsh; sisters, Mary King of Hacinda Heights, CA, Rita Bollich of Wilmington, NC and Alice Daigle of Lake Arthur, LA; 11 grandchildren and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Melda Schexnider Courville.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 10am to 9pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Welsh with a rosary at 6pm and will resume Wednesday at 8am. His funeral will be at 10am on Wednesday at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Father Charles McMillin will officiate. Serving as pallbearers are Kristian Lyon, Devin Lyon, Colby Courville, Haven Granger, Chandler Granger, Cullen Granger. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Owen Courmier and Aubry Sonnier. Burial will be at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Cemetery. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
