Anthony Bruce Hayes, age 33 of Greenville, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015.
He was born on March 29, 1982 to Bruce Hayes and Liz Schaechterle. Anthony lived a journeyman’s life. He grew up partially in Ohio; moving to North Carolina in 1994. He graduated from Northern Nash High School in 2000. After graduation, he entered the US Navy for two years. He found the Navy not to his dreams and moved back to Rocky Mount. He spent time in Ohio and Michigan before settling in Wilson, NC. He graduated from Wilson Community College with an Associate’s Degree and from there; he struggled to make life work; moving to the Outer Banks, Wilmington and then to Greenville where he was attending Pitt Community College; home was always Rocky Mount. He will be missed terribly.
Anthony is survived by his loving father and step-mother, Bruce and Deborah Hayes of Rocky Mount; his mother and step-father, Elizabeth and Keith Schaechterle of Okeana, Ohio; his sister, Megan Schaechterle; his step-brother, Michael Frazier and his wife Tiffany; grandparents, Dick and Vi Olinger; great-grandmother, Mae Hayes; other family members of loving uncles and nieces; and family members of Dave, Michael, Todd, Curtis and Chris Hayes, Dawn Overbreak and Uncle Al Black.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, October 4, 2014 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Johnson Funerals and Cremations, 661 English Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

Liz, Keith, Megan and families, we are so sorry to hear about Anthony...We have many great memories as our sons had some fun times while growing up down the road from each other. Like trick or treating together. Having Santa come visit them at the house and when you would dropped of Anthony in the mornings before school, he always had to have cinnamon toast, even though he just had breakfast at his house! Then Jack and Anthony would get on the school bus. Oh such sweet memories. You keep all your memories close to your heart and recall them often. We love you.....
