Karla Moran Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 4, 2015.

Karla Ruth Moran, 55 of Fayetteville, went to be with the Lord on October 3, 2015 at CAMC-Memorial after a short illness.

Karla was born on May 17, 1960 to the late Albert and Anna Lounette Moran.

Karla was born with Down Syndrome in a time where life expectancies were minimal and institutions were recommended. Her mother was determined to give her the best life she could. Karla attended Oakvale School in Harlem Heights. Karla’s mother took care of her until her passing on New Year’s Eve 2004. Karla then made her home with her sister, Lisa Naylor who preceded her in death in March of 2014. Karla never met a stranger and was loved and cherished by many.

Survivors include her brother-in-law, Tim Naylor, who graciously cared for her after Lisa’s death; her sisters, Janice McGuffin of Waynesboro, VA and Freda Brock of Knightstown, IN; nieces, Anita Williams and Holly Naylor; nephews, Timothy Naylor, Scott and Steven McGuffin; many great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends; special friends, Thomas and Jennifer Ball of Bluefield; special caregivers, Jonnetta Pannell and Terri Beth Ball.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Dodd-Payne-Hess Home Chapel, Fayetteville, with Pastor Danny Goins officiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New River Humane Society, PO Box 955, Fayetteville, WV 25840.

Ms. Moran used to babysit for my sister and I when we were growing up. We loved Carla, she could do a puzzle in just a few minutes, she was amazing. We have so many fond memories of our time with them. She was always such a happy person. I am so glad she was in my life while we were growing up.

Although I haven't seen Karla since she was a young girl, I still remember her. We lived across the road and my younger sister Karen used to babysit and play with Karla all the time. She loved her dearly. Our thoughts and sympathy go out to the whole family. God bless you all.

Freda, Janice, Tim, and family

I'd met Karla only one time at her home
with her Mother. My remembrance of her
was her love of pizza and laughing. She is at rest now and my prayers are
for all of you.

Tim, Tim, Holly and family. This news breaks my heart but I am sure that Lisa and Granny Ann are rejoicing in their reunion.

Karla was so sweet and innocent and I have lots of memories of attending Sunday School with my Grandmother, Granny Ann and Karla, and Miss Mary. Even as young children, we knew that Karla was special.

Rest easy, Karla. You will be missed.
