Bridget your husband was a great person with a heart of compassion for the least among us. The loss of a spouse is the most difficult experience one can have. May GOD grant you HIS peace in the process.

Miss seeing him at the end of the path...he always had some lecture to give me about the kids! I needed to be careful about them walking down the path when those men worked in the fields or Tiffany needed to watch out for bad boys. He cared about my kids and always gave them a lift if it were raining. He would even check on Mamaw for us during the day.

Peace ~ freedom from disturbance; quiet and tranquil

Joseph Scott suffered from PTSD, not from a battlefield in a foreign country but the battlefield of his own life ~ I know in my heart he is at peace ~ He would leave the most beautiful uplifting messages and prayers on my phone, just because he felt like I may need one ~ he never missed an opportunity to tell me how much I was loved or to do his very best to make me laugh ~ (at which he succeeded)
Perhaps we give the things that we ourselves so desperately need ...
I miss you with all my heart, I know without a doubt we will see each other again.
In a place of peace, true love, and joy ~ a place where no one ever feels alone.

Scott writing about Robin Williams' death: I grew up Southern Baptist and although I was taught that you can not pray for some one after they die I seem to take to Roman Catholics view and believe you can. I suffer from mental illness and find it very difficult to laugh but love to make others laugh. The Holy Bible says laughter is good medicine. Robin Williams died today of what seems to be suicide. Please pray for his soul. He brought joy to so many people and he was clean in his the way he brought Joy. He was one of the very few people that could truly make me laugh. In Prayer for my friend, Joseph Scott Thorne

Scott's opinion of his weight gain (he later blamed it on my mother when he hit 240): The year I meet my wife I went from 170 lbs to 210 lbs in 9 months. Who ever coined the phrase "The way to man's heart is through his stomach" was so right. I think a woman coined it.

Scott writing about Moldova: I wonder how these boys are doing now. Many of them moved to Ukraine for jobs. I was told before going on this trip that I would not have any of these boys to show up because they thought it was childish. The first day at this camp I offered the older boys pizza and had it shoved back at me. I stood my ground and after the pizza was shoved back and forth about 5 or six times he finally took it. The next day every one of the boys ages 13 to 18 showed up for the Bible lesson. The first lesson was on the talents given by the master. I gave each of them a penny and a fifty cent piece. The lesson I had planned got off track when a boy asked who were the men on the coins: Abraham Lincoln and John Kennedy. I explained how they had stood for freedom even when it meant being willing to die for it. I told them how they died for trying to secure freedom for every one. I then explained how Jesus died for our freedom from sin and death.

Scott's explanation of his ministry, February 11, 2015: I am trying to start up a new Ministry to occupy my time and serve God. Over the past eight years I have done much needed work on four churches and many homes of elderly and disabled community members. My wife and I want to continue this ministry. I am not asking for money from my family or friends only prayers. This type of ministry is not expensive. I always refer back to helping a widow once that had a broken shower. She took pan baths for six months because her hot water nob in her shower was broke. Less than four dollars for a part and a few tools I already had changed her life. All I asked for was for her to know that God loved her and a hug. Please lift me and my wife up as we plan a more detailed and organized ministry. The many colors in our ministry name represents many aspects of our ministry.

Scott I was always touched by your visits. It isn't easy to acknowledge vulnerabilities; but all my medical problems have taught me to be humble and to accept that I have to yield to a power greater than myself. When you can't manage or fix your problems, you have to rely on friends, family and God. Scott, I was awed by your spirituality and your close personal relationship with God. I actually felt humbled by your level of faith and belief, and was uplifted by talking to you about it. Thank you so much for your words of love and care. You had your own form of ministry, one that helped the human in his mortal life as well as the spiritual. Thank you again, for your love, thoughtfulness and compassion.
