Milbern Seidel, age 86, of String Prairie, Texas was called from this life on October 18, 2015. Milbern was born January 9, 1929 to William and Hattie (Rabel) Seidel in String Prairie, Texas. Milbern was married to Janice Schlicht on October 8, 1955 and theirs was the first wedding reception held at Watterson Hall.
Milbern served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked as a supervisor of road construction for Texas Dept. of Transportation and then for the County of Bastrop. He also enjoyed his ranching.
Milbern is survived by: his wife of 60 years, Janice Seidel; Children, Stephen Seidel and wife Theresa, Linda Kiecke and husband Roy, Billy Seidel and wife Deana, Jeanne Thetford and husband Scott; Grandchildren, Krista Hager and husband Chad, Jeffery Kiecke and wife Leala, Trevor Seidel and wife Laura, Seth Seidel, Jeremy Seidel, Caitlin Thetford, Stephanie Thetford, Drew Thetford, Abigail Seidel, Claire Seidel; and Great-grandchildren, Jack Kiecke and Adelyn Hager. He is also survived by a sister, Janell Reed and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be recited at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in String Prairie, Texas at 7:30pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. The Mass will be celebrated at the church on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 11:00am and interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Marrs-Jones Funeral Home, 104 Olive Street, Smithville, Texas.
