William M. "Bill" Thomas, 89 of Markle passed away at 5:15 am on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Markle Health & Rehabilitation Center. Bill was a graduate of East Union High School and later had taken several agricultural courses at Purdue University. He was a lifelong farmer in Markle and Wells County. He drove a school bus for East Rockcreek for several years. Bill was a member of Markle United Methodist Church, The Markle Historical Society, American Legion Post 111of Bluffton as well as the Veterans of Foreign War Post 6671 of Markle. He was a former Wells County Commissioner and he helped to start the Wabash Valley Grange #2421 and had served for over 35 years for Wells County Soil and Water Conservation District. He traveled all over North America delivering "Feed Centers". He delivered flowers for Tender Gardens Florist in Markle for many years. He was also very active with the Markle Wildcat Festival and was a past Grand Marshall.
Bill was born on July 22, 1926 in Wells County, a son of Vaughn K. and Sadonna I. (Platt) Thomas.
He was united in marriage to Marsha L. Brickley on November 24, 1949 in Markle.
Survivors include his wife: Marsha L. Thomas of Markle; a daughter: Phylian (Ralph) Keefer of Markle; two sons: Dennis Thomas of Markle; Steve (Christine) Thomas of Markle; a brother: Robert K. (Martha Jean) Thomas of Markle; a sister: Jean L. Kleinschmidt of Michigan City, IN; a sister-in-law: Carol S. Thomas of Markle; six grandchildren: Jodi Schmits, Jami McNiece, Derek Thomas, Brooke Thomas, Peter Buccilli and Paula Wood, and twelve great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Richard L. Thomas.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 11:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel with Rev. Steven McPeek officiating.
Interment will be at the Horeb Cemetery in Uniondale.
Memorial donations can be made out to Markle United Methodist Church or to Alzheimer's Association both in care of Myers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 403, Markle, IN 46770.

Linda and are out of town and will not be able to be at the calling. I have fond memories of Bill when he would deliver flowers to the funeral homes. The entire family was blessed to have a good husband, father and grandfather. He was an outstanding person to his community and church. We will keep the entire family in our thoughts and Prayers.
