Lorraine Dorothy Beall Hopkins, 87, of Weyers Cave, passed away Friday, February 19, 2016 at Willow Estates. She hadn't enjoyed good health for the past 15 years.
She was born February 29, 1928 in Washington, DC and was the daughter of the late Wellington Chapman Beall and Myrtle V. Lusby Beall Kelly.
On October 22, 1948 she married Kenneth C. Hopkins, who survives.
After college, she worked as a secretary for the State Department in Washington, D.C. and for the Census Bureau in Maryland.
Lorraine and Kenneth relocated to Weyers Cave in 1981 and became members of Bethany United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Paul Carlton Hopkins and wife, Glenda of Mt. Airy, MD and Thomas Stuart Hopkins and wife, Shari of Frederick, MD; two granddaughters, Meredith Winebrunner and husband, Mark, of Finksburg, MD and Nicole Hopkins of Frederick, MD; one grandson, Andy Hopkins and wife, Casey, of North Carolina; two great-grandchildren, Ryley and Ryan Winebrunner; one brother, Eugene Beall and wife, Rachel of Easton, MD; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave with Rev. Brad McMullen officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 1160 Pepsi Pl #306, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
