Gerald A. Voorhees, age 84, of Montour Falls, NY passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility.
Gerald was born in Burdett, NY, on December 13th, 1931, the son of the late, Walter and Etta Mae (Davis) Voorhees. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired from Akzo Salt Company in Watkins Glen where he worked as a control room operator. Gerald was member of the Montour Moose Lodge and St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Watkins Glen.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jeanne (Landry) Voorhees; grandsons, Tony and Joey Augustine; granddaughter, Sara Augustine; brother, Donald and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant son, Gerald; daughter, Elaine Augustine; and five sisters and six brothers.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 22nd, 2016 at 10 am at St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 905 Decatur St., Watkins Glen, NY. Urn interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Watkins Glen with Military Honors.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908; St. Mary's of the Lake Church, PO Box 289, Watkins Glen, NY 14891; or the charity of one's choice.
