Alice Womack Todaro, age 93, passed away April 14, 2016 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV after a short illness.
Born on November 27, 1922, in Colorado, TX, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Henry Womack and Viola Jane Bozeman Womack.
Alice was a career U.S. Civil Service employee who retired in Fayetteville in November 1993 after 26 years of government service in the U.S. Department of Defense. Her assignments included overseas jobs in Okinawa, Cuba, Bermuda and Germany, as well as positions in the continental United States.
She was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Oak Hill, Southern Cross Chapter 2001 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Fayette County Historical Society. She is a past member of the Fayetteville Woman’s Club, Fayette Study Club, Vandalia Garden Club, Plateau Chapeaus Red Hat Society, and was a member of the Historic Fayette Theater’s Board for a number of years. Travel was her passion, and she had visited most of the Western European countries, as well as countries in Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. She had also been in 49 U.S. states and parts of Canada and Mexico. Alice was an award-winning artist, author and photographer. She was a charter member of the Black Range Artists in Kingston, NM, and was a past member of the El Paso, TX, Art Association and the National Amateur Press Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Lee Todaro; her infant daughter, Patricia Lynne Todaro; her sisters Dorothy Womack Lusk and Kathryn Womack Hice; and brother Charles Henry Womack; her parents; paternal grandparents Nathan Turner Womack and Ellen Elizabeth Wingo Womack; and maternal grandparents David Theophilus Bozeman and Ellen Elmyra Corley Bozeman of TX.
Survivors include her daughters Jeannie Kay Todaro of Fayetteville and Linda Jane Todaro Utter of Amarillo, TX; step-daughter Shirley Ann Todaro Van Court and husband Robert “Rip” Van Court of Pass Christian, MS; granddaughter Patricia Lynne Utter Garansuay and her husband Clavio Garansuay of Amarillo, TX; grandson, AWC Ryan Lee Utter, U.S. Navy, and wife FC1 Natalie Utter, U.S. Navy, of Jacksonville, FL; two great-grandsons, Ryan Garansuay and his wife Chelsea Garansuay, and Reese Michael Utter; a great-great-grandson, Remington John Garansuay; and extended family members in MS and GA.
Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, with the Reverend Roy Gene Crist officiating, at 11 AM, Saturday, April 30th, 2016. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

A mold was broken last night. There will never again be anyone quite like my talented, globe-trotting, fearless Aunt Alice Todaro. I will love her forever, and am so thankful to have known her and been a member of her family. I wish strength and peace for the rest of her family.
