Ivan "Ike" E. Catherman, 94 of Idaho Falls, passed away on Sunday April 17, 2016. Ike was born on February 24, 1922 to Charles and Mabel (Hall) Catherman in Stites, ID. He attended Kooskia High School and later enlisted in the US Army Air Corps, 8th Air Force, in World War II where he flew as a bombardier and navigator and later as a Airplane Crew Chief flying B-17's over Europe. He was wounded in service and spent a time recovering from his injuries in Portland and Boise. He worked for over 30 years as an insurance underwriter and retired from Continental Insurance in 1982. He married Eileen Guderjohn in April 1972 in Boise and they lived in the Seattle area for 14 years and then came to settle in Idaho Falls in the mid 1980's. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping and hunting and being outdoors in his beautiful yard.
Ike is survived by his wife Eileen of Idaho Falls; sons: Ron (Wenda) Catherman of Challis, ID; Chuck (Chris) Catherman of Boise; Gus Catherman (Liz) of Meridian, ID; daughters: Ronette "Rayah" of Boise; Jolynn Catherman of Boise; Kelli (Jim) Larson of Boise; Diane (Daniel) Albertson of Idaho Falls; 20 grandchildren; 11 grandchildren and his dogs Hank and Chuck. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons: David Bybee and Jesse Mayne; four grandchildren: Shane Albertson; Alden Wayne Catherman and Kassy Kerfoot.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E 17th St., Idaho Falls. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery, Idaho Falls.
