Gerald Lee Weikel, 80, of Traverse City, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Munson Medical Center.
Jerry was born on June 26, 1935 in Fife Lake, the son of Valney and Iva (Perrigo) Weikel. He was raised in Flint, graduating from Flint Northern in 1954 where he played football. He worked in the local factory and ice cream shop, and loved to travel, hunt, and fish. After his parents retired in 1966, he moved to Traverse City to be closer to them.
Jerry is survived by his sisters, Mary Lou Adams of Fife Lake and Kay (Charles) Pascoe of Manton, and several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
Preceding Jerry in death are his parents, Valney and Iva Weikel; sister Barbara Bradley; brothers in law, Jack Adams and James Bradley, and his great niece Barbie.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley.
