Sandra Lynne Widerburg-Wolfensberger-Edwards-Rice, 66, of Idaho Falls died on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at her home after a long battle with cancer.

She was born on May 30, 1949 to Leonard O Widerburg and M. Louise (Moser) Widerburg in Idaho Falls, ID. She was welcomed by 6 older brothers and one sister. She grew up in the Garfield Community on the family farm. She had many happy memories of growing up in Garfield.

Sandi was a warm, compassionate and vibrant woman who always went out of her way to help others – no matter what. She was a proud and dignified woman who had a passion for life. She had a wonderful sense of humor which endeared her to everyone she came in contact with and it is a great testament to her nature that she formed so many long lasting friendships over the years.

She married Alan Wolfensberger in Nov 1965 and had two children Alene Wolfensberger-Leazer of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Dustin Wolfensberger of Idaho Falls. They were later divorced.

She married Jerry R Edwards in May 1971 and gained three wonderful step children, Cathy, Cheri, and Greg Edwards all of Boise, ID. and their son together Michael J Edwards of Idaho Falls. Jerry passed away in April 1983.

She married Robert C Rice in June 1984 and gained 3 more wonderful step children, Tami Nolte of Draper, UT, Terrie (Scott) Anderson of Lander, WY, and Robert P Rice of Idaho Falls.

During her life she had many occupations but her favorite long term position was the 27 years she spent with Albertsons. She started as a cashier and ended her career as the first female Store Director in Blackfoot, ID.

Her and Bob had many wonderful years together and she spent her retirement in Yuma, AZ and enjoyed traveling with Bob to see their children and grandchildren and many others.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, 9 children, 17 grandchildren, 13 great-children, her brothers Robert O (Luana) Widerburg of Idaho Falls, Richard L (Diane) Widerburg of Bullhead City, AZ, Melvin Widerburg of Garfield, ID, and Ole (Maggie) Widerburg of Rigby, ID, various nieces and nephews, as well as many loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marjorie her brother-in-law John T Homer, her brothers Lamar and Ray Widerburg and her sister-in-law Dee (Mel) and Molly (LaMar) Widerburg.

A celebration of Sandi's life will be held at a later date.

I was so sorry to hear about Sandra passing. She and I had many fun times together at the old family farm and when she stayed with our family one summer when we were children. We stayed awake many nights talking and giggling. My prayers are Heaven bound for Bob, her brothers, and all her children and grandchildren. Know that she is having a wonderful family reunion there!
