Mr. Delbert Gray age 80 of Flat Lick, Ky departed this life on Friday, May 13, 2016 at his home. He was born on August 9, 1935 the son of Dewey and Julia Gray. On March 31, 1956, he united in marriage with Mable Gambrel and to this union nine children were born. He was a member of the Greenbriar Holiness Church and had been a coal truck driver. He enjoyed woodcrafting, especially building birdhouses. He also loved to garden, go to church and be with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Julia Gray, his wife Mable Gray, one son who died at birth, Charles Thomas Gray, one brother, Charlie Gray, two sisters, Edna Hobbs and Ruah Hubbard, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Left behind to mourn his passing, three sons, Elvert Gray and Roy Gray and wife Emma all of Flat Lick and Terry Wayne Gray and wife Brandy of Jarvis, five daughters, Billie Jean Cox of Flat Lick, Pauline Gray of Barbourville, Darlene Baker and husband Jerry of Flat Lick, Kathleen Hobbs and husband Gary of Flat Lick and Louise Klug and husband Steve of Corbin, four brothers, Leamon Gray of Himyar, Chris Gray and wife June of Flat Lick, Thomas Gray and wife Edith of Artemus and Eugene Gray and wife Virgie of Flat Lick, one sister, Lena Rice of Barbourville. He also leaves behind nineteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and a very special nurse, Cindy Miller along with a host of many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Delbert Gray will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Donnie Mills and Rev. Golden Taylor officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons of Mr. Gray. He will be laid to rest in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick, KY. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m.

this man meant the world to me, he was more than an uncle he was like my dad him and my aunt Mable took me in for a real good part of my teenage years I will miss him so much and I miss Mable too someday I will get to see them again I Love and Miss you so much and my prayers go out to all his kids and grandkids
