Gerry Dean Wielang
Gerry Wielang passed away peacefully on Thursday May 19, 2016 at her home in Idaho Falls, ID. Gerry was born in Port Orchard, WA on October 24, 1933 as an only child to Fred and Flora (Adamson) Ewing. At age 18, she moved to Denver, CO to begin employment with the FBI as an administrative assistant. That is where she met her future husband Joe A. Wielang. They were married in Denver on June 14, 1952 and were married for 60 years when Joe passed away in 2012. Shortly after marrying they returned to Washington State where Joe finished his engineering degree.
They soon started a family, and eventually had a total of seven children. Gerry and Joseph moved several times around the country for Joe's work and eventually settled in Idaho Falls in 1966.
Gerry loved the outdoors and instilled that love in her children. All of the kids grew up with many camping, four wheel driving, and Skiing experiences. Mom was a full-fledged tree hugger her whole life and enjoyed outings with the local Alpine Club and was a member of the Sierra Club for years. She was also extremely committed to her faith and active in the Catholic Church.
Gerry is survived by her seven children: Joseph A. Wielang, Jr., Marci Cooke, Steve Wielang (Teri), Charles Wielang (Peggy), Bruce Wielang, Mary Wilson, and Erik Wielang (Lori). She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Joe and grandson Travis Wielang.

Dear Marci and Family,
We are so very sorrowful and shocked to hear today of Mom, Gerry's passing.
We had not been in touch for awhile and did not know that she was ill.
We have such wonderful, funny and poignant memories from the 50 years of knowing her and all of you, too.
First as neighbors when we visited, offered, played Bridge and went camping with 12 children!
The a friendship that lasted and found us 30 years later traveling through France together to Spain together.
We have intended ad hoped to have Mom visit us here in Hawaii after she was settled in her new home but time flew by and it did not happen and we are sorry.
Our hearts and prayers are with you as you struggle with the pain and loneliness of the loss of her in your lives...she was an admirable, amazingly strong, kind and giving woman. The world was fortunate to have her in it and so were we all.
God Blessings on you all.
