Anna Jeanette Blackburn, age 99, of Bruceville, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016 at her residence. Services will be held Tuesday, June 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Bruceville Baptist Church with Brother Mickey Fugitt officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory in Hillsboro.
Mrs. Blackburn was born July 31, 1916 in Memphis, Tennessee to Elvin and Flossie McCormack. She was raised in Hillsboro where she attended Hillsboro Public School and First Baptist Church Hillsboro. She graduated in 1935 and married Woodrow Blackburn on August 5, 1935 in Hillsboro. They lived in Navarro County, Eddy and Temple. While in Temple she worked at Marge's Fashions. Retiring in 1977 they moved to Bruceville and were active in the community and Bruceville Baptist Church. Mr. Blackburn passed away after 62 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her father, step-Father, Claude Sparks, mother, husband, sisters Dorothy Chambers, Claudia Willingham, and Betty Krause and brother Charles Sparks;
She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Special Thanks to staff at Regent Care at Woodway and Bluebonnet Hospice. In lieu of flowers please make memorial to Bruceville Baptist Church.

Nancy (Hobbs) Hill
I remember when Woody and Jeanette moved to Eddy. They were a handsome couple. Her sparkling personality soon won over the community (and was the envy of teen-aged girls, I might add). Even an elderly local grocer said "she's as cute as a speckled pup!" -- a high compliment from him! This was a happy memory of my teen-aged years, and I thought to share it with you. My condolences and best wishes to the family.

We loved your pecan pie you made the best. Loved all of our trips to come and see you, you always made us feel welcome. We thank God for a good friend like you had with Herald, he is a God sent, was there for you always. I think he was like a son you never had. May you rest in peace and enjoy your time eternally with Woodrow, grandmother, and al of your sisters. Love ya
