Rita Marie Purcell, 74 of Louisville passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Baptist Health Louisville.

She was born July 7, 1942 in Louisville, the daughter of Carl and Juanita (Cannady) Hiltz. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Mathis Purcell, Jr.; step-son, Roger Purcell and one sister, Carol Adcock.

Rita was a homemaker, volunteer at the Salvation Army for over 43 years and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include her son, Michael Purcell; two step-daughters, Katherine Mayfield and June Deeley; sister, Sarah Knoop; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A service to celebrate Rita's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 14, 2016 in the chapel of Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave. with burial to follow at Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville, KY. Visitation will be from 2-8 PM on Wednesday and from 9AM until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may be given to the Salvation Army.

To Rita's family on behalf of the Clark family...Haven't seen any of you in years. Just had dinner with my 3 brothers and we talked of good times with all of us growing up together. They especially remember the time they were playing cowboys and indians and they tied Rita to a tree; then decided to go home for lunch and left her there. They were in big trouble, but it made for a great memory at dinner. May God comfort you in knowing that Rita is in a much better place now and will be waiting when you get there. Bev Clark Lush
