Joel Elmer Rush, Bro. Rush or Tooter Bill Rush (as many family members called him) will surely be missed, but we can look forward to seeing him again in heaven. He was a compassionate and humble man who loved the Lord and was concerned about the salvation of others. As a cousin, I had the privilege of enjoying his humorous side, which gave everyone a lot of laughs.
My prayers to all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

I truly loved my dear friend. I will miss his kinship and his friendship. We were kinfolks by blood, but more importantly we were Brothers in Christ. When Bro. Rush was in the pulpit, you could see the Lord in his eyes. His preaching was down home, backwoods country preaching. The Lord Jesus used him to reach many different folks from many different walks of life. He loved everyone, and everyone loved him. This Old Time Preacher Man preached of the wonders of Heaven and how everyone should accept the marvelous gift of Salvation from our Lord. And now he is living in that Land that he told us so much about. We shall see our friend again someday. Prayers for Wayne, Evelyn, Daniel and all the family.

When I got acquainted with Bro Rush, one of the things I noticed about him most, was his great humor & his humility. When I would see him at Church, I would ask him how he was doing & his best phrase was " I'm still here & lovin it". But always talked about how wonderful Heaven would be too. He was just content where ever the Lord wanted him. He amazed me that he would go regular to visit folks that he hardly knew to pray with them & be compassionate about their situation. An awesome man! Can't wait to see him again.

Papa Rush, you are dearly missed. I've been so blessed by your prayers over the years and so thankful for the results of those prayers. I'm forever grateful that Our Father placed you in my life when He saw I needed your light the most. You guided me from the dark and held my hand to show me the path. Thank you for restoring my faith and reminding me that every sinner has a future. I love you Papa!

You will be so very missed Bro.Rush!! Your ability to make sure to connect with everyone and tell them about the saving grace and love of Jesus was a gift that you used EXCLUSIVELY for His kingdom! And now you are there-I will miss knowing that at each service, your words would touch a heart so much that the hearer's heart would be softened and they would accept Him and become an eternal brother or sister forever. You will be so very missed by so many and we rest in the knowledge that so many more, because of your fearless sharing of the Gospel, will see you when we all meet again!
