Dolores Pate Carraway, age 73, of Williamston, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016. She fought a long and courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was born on June 6, 1943 in Martin County to Joseph Samuel and Pearl Cutler Pate. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Lavon P. Williams, Joseph Earl Pate and Darrell Ray Pate.
On February 26, 1961 she married the love of her life, Vernon Sherwood Carraway. She was retired from Sprint and was a faithful member of Siloam Baptist Church in Windsor. She sang in the choir and held many different positions in the church as long as her health allowed.
She is survived by her husband and her daughter Susan Johnson and husband Jimmy of Williamston. She is also survived by her sister Janice P. McCandless of Williamston.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Heather White, Amy Thigpen and the rest of the staff at Physicians East in Greenville, for the love and care shown to them. Also to Community Health Care and Hospice for the care shown during the past few weeks.
The family will receive family and friends from 6:30pm to 8:00pm on Sunday at Biggs Funeral Home in Williamston and other times at the home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Monday at Siloam Baptist Church with burial to follow at Martin Memorial Gardens
