.James John McMahon, Sr. and Kathryn Florene (Poteete) McMahon, passed away together in their home on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. James and Kathryn lived in Glendale Heights for 43 years. James McMahon, born on April 29, 1944, married Kathryn Poteete, born on June 6, 1946, on December 27, 1969. Together for 46 years, James and Kathryn raised and are survived by four loving children, Dawn Michelle Start, James John McMahon, Jr, Brooke Anne Palestina, Todd Michael McMahon, grandchildren Justin, Tara, Michael, Vanessa, Jessica, McKayla, Caleb, and Kaitlynn and great-grandchildren Locke and Rousseau who will all miss them dearly. In James, we remember a strong, dependable, and awesomely funny (in a quirky way) man. James brought the extraordinary into everyone's lives who knew him. James worked at the Wheaton Supply Yard as a member of the Teamsters Local 673. He was known to work feverishly hard at everything and to always finish a job no matter what. His hobbies included any and all sports, Rhythm and Blues Music, politics, and playing with his grandchildren. In Kathryn, we remember her constant smiles, tenaciousness, creativity, and her "can do attitude". Kathryn was a beautiful, strong woman with a big heart and warm personality. She would not rest until there was smile on your face. She had the ability to make anyone feel that they were the most important person in the world. As a salesperson at Cameo and Karoline Emmens, Kathryn's constant dedication to her customers will never be forgotten. She had a passion for Bingo that drove her to create Lucky Bingo Bums, a travel and tour company, which she ran for many years. Her hobbies included bowling, Bingo, scrapbooking, baking with her grandchildren, and making wonderful memories with family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday August 11, from 4pm to 8pm at Cypress Funeral Home, 1698 N. Bloomingdale Rd., Glendale Heights, IL. Funeral Service will be Friday August 12 at 10:30am at Cypress Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL. Info 630-653-7666 or cypressfuneralhome.com

Jim,
Keep smiling with that stinky cigar. Always hated the smell so you would just laugh. Have missed being a part of the tribe but always remembered how we all got started. I guess you will have to keep on your toes cuz the Kath is still with you! Love and miss you.
