William Neef Walker
1929-2016
I left this place on Aug, 14, 2016. I've lived a wonderful and full life! Grew up in SLC then Sunnyside UT and then back to SLC. I had my cowboy years in Sunnyside and loved spending time out on my horse Paint in Castle Country. My memorable school years were high school at Wasatch Academy and then graduating from the U. While at the U I met my wonderful wife of 59 years at the bar having an in-depth discussion about the finer points of jazz music of which we were both big fans. I did a couple of stints in the Army, Fort Sill and Wiesbaden. After Wiesbaden it was back to SLC. That's when I got serious about skiing. Joined the Alta weekend patrol and then switched to Park City when Treasure Mountain opened. Then I got the opportunity to take over Watson Shelter at Alta which I jumped on. Besides my family and me being ski bums for many years we also enjoy the Red Rock country in Utah and have explored much of it. I have a great family and current girlfriend Marilou for the past few years. Preceding me to the great beyond were my wife Shirlee of almost 60 years and daughter Heidi (Doug). Left to carry on are sons Wilkes (Jane), Tom (Cynthia), Andy (Marcia), Matt (Kim), several grandchildren and even great grandchildren. A service will be held in my honor at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23rd at the Unitarian Church. 569 S 1300 E, SLC

My condolences to the Walker family. I have many fine memories of my time working at Watson Shelter with the Walker family in the mid-1970's. Once a Watson Wino, always a Watson Wino! Rest in peace Neef.

To Neef and Family, Thank you for excepting me into the Watson Wino family. It was an experience that changed the life of a suburban Maryland high school kid. We will be thinking of you all at Close Enough. Tim Wooldridge
