Charity Bernice Coty, a loving mother and grandmother, of rural Ossian passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 18, 2016. She was born on July 31, 1938 in Maysville, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Daniel and Druzella (Turner) Stanley. She married William O. Coty on March 13, 1960; together they raised their six children, Debra F. Slusher, Teresa L. Coty, William O. Coty, Jr., Kimberly A. Stanley, Raymond (Kristen) Coty, and Danny Joe Smith. She was a member of Markle Church of Christ. She owned and operated her own beauty salon; she worked at GE and later retired from Bluffton Rubber. Charity loved her family and close friends. She was a member of Gamma Nu, Chapter 132 of Bluffton for over 30 years. She loved casino trips and having children in her home. She touched the lives of many and held a special place in the hearts of Jerry, Tony, Jack, Douglas Lee, and David who considered her a mother figure. Additional surviving family include her; 13 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; brother, Danny B. Stanley; brother and sister in laws, Sue (Glen) Talbott, Helen Denny, both of Marion, Rosemary (Ralph) Heiser, of LaFontaine; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and many more special friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Bill on March 24, 2009; a sister, Lottie Mae Smith on August 5, 2016; and sister in law, Dorothy Vincent. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2-8 pm on Monday, August 22, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ossian. Memorials may be made to Cancer Services of NE Indiana.
