Hazel Marie Mullens was born on September 24, 1939 in Bastrop, LA to the late-Wesley and Ira Crowder. She was the baby girl of this union.
She accepted Christ at an early age and attended St. Margaret of Scotland Parish.
She spent her early childhood in Bastrop, LA until she united with her love Auvell Mullens Jr. and relocated to Chicago, Illinois where she spent her life raising their three children; Felicia, Auvell and Arnedra. They were joined in holy matrimony on July 26, 1964.
Hazel received her BA in childcare education at Governors State University and continued on to study child psychology there. One of her passions was teaching children. Her career in education began in Bastrop, LA and continued once she came to Chicago. She taught at various schools where every child held a special place in her heart.
She also enjoyed playing cards with her family where she always came out the winner. Hazel was active in many senior social groups; including a keno club, her community and her block club. She also enjoyed social outings to casinos.
Hazel was preceded in death by her brothers Wesley, Willie, Governor, J.L., Allen, Johnnie and Elmer.
On August 29, 2016 Hazel Marie Mullens was received back to her Heavenly home.

God has called his Angel home,Aunt Hazel was loving and loved by all who knew her. Although I didn't see her often, we talked a lot and for at least an hour each time. She was a talker. She always hugged and kissed family when we were together. We never ended a conversation without saying "I love you". We always called each other on our birthdays and I looked forward to that call. May God continue to bless our family. I love you all. I am J.L. Crowder daughter.

To Nedra and family: Praying that the Lord give you all supernatural strength to endure during this most difficult time. I pray the angels be encamp around you to see you through to keep you strong like never before in the mighty name of Jesus. 1 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with Lord. Know that your mother is resting in the arms of Jesus our Lord and savior may he always be with you now and for ever more.

Beautiful, Kind, Caring, Smart, Talented, Amazing, Blessed.
Those are only a few words to describe my Aunt Hazel. I have no memory when she wasn't smiling or laughing. Every time I saw her I was rewarded with the warmest hugs and kisses and love. My heart and eyes are crying huge tears over the loss of this Fine Woman.
My love and prayers go out to my magnificent Uncle Auvell and amazing cousins Auvell III (Bae Bae), Felicia (Lisa), and Arnedra (Nedra) and your families.
Heaven indeed receive an Angel. One of the most beautiful ones I have ever seen.
Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
