Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 7, 2016.

Geneva Curry Jenkins of 402 Paine Run Road, Grottoes, Virginia transitioned peacefully on Monday, September 5, 2016 at 9:00 p.m.

Mrs. Jenkins was born on August 1, 1934 to the late Blanche Curry Brown and John Veney of Grottoes, Virginia.

She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and graduated Business College. She was joined in marriage to the Rev. Dr. William T. Jenkins February 4, 1949.

She joined John Wesley United Methodist Church at an early age, and later attended Mt. Calvary Baptist church until she joined Union Baptist Church (Waynesboro). She was employed by General Electric and Genicom (Waynesboro) for many years.

Mrs. Jenkins was a very dedicated and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, but most of all she was dedicated to God.

Mrs.Jenkins was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Dr. William T. Jenkins, a daughter Mrs. Curry J. Davis, a brother Wardell (Jack) Curry, mother Blanche Brown, and father John Veney.

Mrs. Jenkins was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church, the "Pastor's Aid Ministry", a very dedicated Deaconess, a member of the "Christian Women's Fellowship", "The Praying Women", served on the kitchen committee, and sang on the senior choir.

Celebrating her life and legacy are two children-Ms. Jessie Jenkins-Jones, Grottoes, Virginia; and William R. Jenkins (W.R.), Rustburg, Virginia. She also leaves three devoted grandchildren-Tonja Davis-Allen (John), Camden, Delaware; Irvin (Elgie) Davis and Shawn E. Davis, both of Grottoes, Virginia, a special son-in-law Irvin F. Davis; three great-grandchildren-Jordan T. Allen and Krystjan A. Allen of Camden, Delaware, and Elijah R. Keiser of Grottoes, Virginia; one sister Mary A. Carroll; two special nieces Brenda and Jackie Curry of Charlotte, N.C.; two special nursing students-Wilma Cambata and Melissa Shoemaker, two special friends Mrs. Amanda Moody, & Mrs. JoAnn Ecoe; and a host of other relatives and friends. Her heart was her family.

We the family are so very thankful that Mom knew and served the Lord. While we will miss her deeply on this side, we know that one glorious day there shall be an inordinate family reunion in glory.

The family will receive friends 7-8 PM, Friday, September 9, 2016 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Staunton, with Rev. Walter A. Ghant officiating. Burial will be in John Wesley Cemetery.

Jessie & WR,
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Cousin Geneva. We offer our deepest sympathy to the family. Cousin Geneva was greatly loved by us and we will remember her wonderful hospitality and warm heart. We will not forget the times we traveled to visit with Mama Lizzie and others in tow. What a wonderful time we had just remembering our family history and having a good time. Be strong and know that she is in HIS HANDS. I don't know if she sang the song, but we can hear her now "Every things alright, in My Father's House. There is JOY and PEACE.

Jessie and WR, deepest sympathies to you and the family during this your time of sorrow. Was thinking about your Mom over the weekend and then to see the notice in the newspaper, wow! God has his way of doing things, do know that her passing has touched a spot deep down in my being. Hope to see you on Friday, if not on Saturday. We will see her and all of our loved ones on the other side of the Jordan and what a time that will be!!! To be absent from the body, is to be present with the LORD. ...Much love and deepest sympathies

W.R.,

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. It is so hard letting our mothers go, even as "mature" adults, we like knowing that they are there if we need them. I hope you find peace in your memories of her.
