Jim Bailey, Jr., 82, of Buffalo Gap, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016. He was born in Runnels County on July 1, 1934, to Jim and Ruby Bailey. He attended school in the Dale Community and farmed with his dad. In 1956, he married Shirley Blackmon and she preceded him in death in 1994. Until his retirement, Jim worked as a mechanic. In 1999, Jim married, Louise "Weezie" Farley and they moved to Buffalo Gap in 2002, where they resided at the time of his death. Jim enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ruby Bailey; sisters, Mary Frances, Christine Bailey Seals, and Elouise Bailey Prine; and a brother, Jessie Bailey. He is survived by his wife, Louise "Weezie" Bailey; sons, Jimmy Bailey and wife, Diana of Abilene, TX and Jeff Bailey and wife, Cindy of Leander, TX; stepson, Hoss Farley and wife, Pat of Canyon, TX; stepdaughters, Reena Garner of Abilene , TX, Betty Nelson and husband, Bill of Canyon, TX, and Darla Flatt of Abilene, TX; brother, Wayne Bailey and wife, Ginger of Abilene, TX; sister, Billie Reel of Abilene, TX; brothers-in-law, Tommy Blackmon and wife, Chris of Abilene, TX, and C. Lee Smith of Clyde, TX; sister-in-law, Cathy Bailey of Ballinger, TX; one granddaughter; 13 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 22 step great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, Sept 27, 2016 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, Sept 28, 2016 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Winters, TX. You may view and sign the guestbook at www.elliott-hamil.com
