Mrs Mildred Lucile Griebel, age 82, of Little Rock, AR died quietly with her husband at her side on Oct 3, 2016 after an extended illness. “Millie” born on November 12th, 1933 was the daughter of Hester and Lester Purtle of Prescott, AR, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years Jack A Griebel, Sr, her remaining siblings Margaret Alexander and Francis Imus, her sons Charles Andrew Griebel and Jack A Griebel Jr, her daughters in law May and Nancy Griebel, and granddaughters Greer, Lauren and Meredith Griebel, as well by many nieces and nephews.
Millie will be remembered for her sweet and steady disposition and also her mischievous sense of humor. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and mother in law. She was an outstanding cook whose fruit cake, dressing with chicken, pot roast, and fried okra are legendary. She also was an avid gardener and excellent seamstress who made many of her family’s clothes. After her children were grown, Millie had a 13 year career at Baptist Medical center where she served as registrar for birth certificates and loved meeting new parents and their babies. She also was an ardent Christian and a lifelong member of the Baptist Church. She was most appreciative of the Sunday school services by phone from her church family at Geyer Springs First Baptist Church in the later years of her life as her mobility decreased.
A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday October 7th, 2016 at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Highway 5 North in Alexander, with a visitation to be held an hour prior to service.
