Harriett "Betty" Shorten
Ames, Iowa
Betty Shorten of Ames passed away (and reunited with her husband George "Ed" Shorten) on October 1, 2016. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday October 4, 2016 in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Betty was born September 27, 1927 to Harry and Aileen (Downs) Finch in Ames. She graduated from Ames High in 1946. Betty married George (Ed) Shorten on August 22nd, 1949 at the Little Brown church in Nashua Iowa.
Betty was Ed's assistant in running Shorten Electric for many years until they retired in 1988. Betty had a love for all God's little creatures. She spent time watching the squirrels and birds in her yard. She was especially fond of dogs and cared for many during her life.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband; George and sister; Mary Lou Schaller of Kenosha, WI.
She is survived by her daughters; Cyndy Shorten of Blue Springs Mo., and Michelle Pohm (husband David) of Windsor, CO.; five grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren and one on the way.
