Therese Anne Hauser, 84, beloved wife of Edmond L. Hauser of Gilbertsville, PA and Flushing, NY passed from this life on Tuesday October 4, 2016 at her residence.
Born in Flushing , NY on April 3, 1932, Therese was the only child of Camille (Russo) and Carl Ragazzo.
While initially focused on raising her family, Therese's lifelong love of literature and learning led her to begin reinventing herself at the age of 38 entering Queens College of the City University of New York to pursue a degree in education. Combining her full time role of wife and mother, with the rigorous demands of a fulltime student, she completed both her Bachelor and Master's degrees with Cum Laude honors in Education in 5 years. Focused on the emerging field of teaching students whose English was their second language, Therese helped pioneer this discipline at the college level as a member of the staff in one of the first ever reading labs at the college level at her alma mater, Queens College and later Queensborough Community College.
Therese was a devoted member of St. Columbkill Roman Catholic Church, 200 Indian Springs Road, Boyerstown, PA 19512.
Her love of education and learning was only surpassed by her love for her children and grandchildren; Stephen T. husband of MaryJo Hauser of Danbury, CT, Denise M. wife of Robert Peragine of Westwood, NJ and their children Jennifer M. wife of Andrew Siceloff of Hoboken, NJ, and Kevin of Astoria, NY, Edmond C. husband of Dr. Wendy Lou Hauser of Parker, CO and their children, Andrew and Elizabeth and Adrienne E. wife of James Druiett of Bayside, NY.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Columbkill RCC on Monday, October 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Friends and family may call at the Linwood W. Dear Ed & family:
We loved talking with Therese about your family and our family especially our families in Colorado. Whether at Church or at the Giant we always shared a laugh. We were blessed to know Therese. She will be missed.
