John Gold Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 15, 2016.

John William Gold, 65, of Huntington, WV, died November 14, 2016 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born June 9, 1951 in Huntington, WV, son of the late Mary Kathryn Gold and Samuel “Mac” McDowell Gold. He is survived by his step mother, Janice Chandler Gold; brothers, Morgan (Beth) Gold of Hilton Head, SC and Stephen (Karen) Gold of Barboursville, WV; a nephew, Chris Gold; nieces, KC (Scott) Klusty, Emily Gold and Caroline (Jon) True; great-nieces, Harper and Merritt True; great-nephew, Ben Klusty; step-sisters, Robin (Steve) Wilks, Nancy (Phil) Hazeldine. For many of his formative years, he was a familiar site at Gold’s ESSO at the corner of 5th Ave. and 8th St. John had a lifelong love of cars and horses. He spent his adult years under the care of Autism Services in Huntington. Because of this, John was able to live a full and rich life and do things no one expected. He held several jobs, his favorite being a ticket taker at The Keith-Albee. The family would like to thank his friends at The Woodlands, Beverly Hills United Methodist Church and especially his autism family at Pelican House, South Side House and Betsy Broh House, who along with his family enriched his life. A funeral service will be held at 11am, Friday, November 18, 2016 at Beverly Hills United Methodist Church by Rev. Jerry Wood. Friends may call one hour before the service. Private burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to Autism Services Center, 929 4th Ave. Huntington, WV 25701.
