Michael David Salyers, four days old, entered into the presence of our Lord on November 25, 2016 at the Carilion Clinic Children's Hospital in Roanoke, VA. He was born on November 21, 2016 at 32 weeks at Princeton Community Hospital and weighed 3lb and 9.4oz and 16 inches long. He is forever loved by his parents, Joseph and Rebecca Salyers of Iaeger, WV. In just a few short days on this earth, he inspired thousands of people, brought hundreds closer to Jesus, introduced us to so many wonderful new people, and brought us so very close together as a family. While we wish we had more time with him, we have been changed...changed by his love, the love everyone has poured out for Him, and the love of our precious Jesus who preserves our hope. Our faith is made strong because we have had so many messages stating Michael has brought them closer to Christ, which is the greatest calling any one of us can ever have. So even though he was only with us for a short time, God's plan was accomplished. He will always be in the hearts of his big sister, Lydia Joyce Salyers and his big brother, Joseph Salyers II, both of the home. His maternal grandparents are Rev. Tommy and Joyce Knotts of Brenton, WV; his paternal grandparents are Russell and Joyce Salyers of Iaeger, WV; and his great-grandmother, Virginia Roberts of Iaeger, WV. He is also loved deeply by his Uncle Michael (Kellie) Knotts of Pineville, WV, Aunt Christa (Chuck) Simpson of Beckley, WV, Uncle Ben (Amanda) Knotts of Henrico, VA and Uncle Warren (Jennifer) Salyers of Iaeger, WV and a host of family and friends. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Brenton Baptist Church, Brenton, WV at 1PM with Rev. Tommy Knotts, Rev. Michael Knotts, and Rev. Ben Knotts officiating. Visitation will be held at 11AM prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Joe Roberts Family Cemetery on Johnnycake Mtn, Iaeger, WV. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brenton Baptist Church for a playground to be built in Michael's memory. Thank you for your prayers, your love, and support. "I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death." Philippians 1:20. Well done, little Michael. We love you and we will see you again! Online condolences can be sent to the family by visiting www.blueridgefuneralhome.com Arrangements are in the care of Blue Ridge Funeral Home Beckley WV.

While we have not met in person, as a prior resident of the Bluefield area many years ago, I often read the Bluefield Daily Telegraph. As Christian brothers and sisters, you and your family are in our prayers. From reading the obituary, baby Michael touched lives in a very special way which, in turn, demonstrates the foundation of faith that he already had from his parents and grandparents. What a glorious day it will be when you hold him in your arms again. May God bring you comfort as your travel through this journey. You are in our prayers. In HIS love.
