Cecilia Lybyer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 30, 2016.

Our Mother, Cecilia Lois Colbey Lybyer, started this life Nov. 8, 1933 in Rush Springs, Ok.
Daughter to John Henry and Lola Rena Colbey. One of thirteen children, she grew up learning the dynamics of large family living, which prepared her for raising six children of her own. She was fiercely protective and loving of her siblings, and they have always played a huge role in her life. Sharing work experiences with her sisters at local eateries such as Speros, her beloved Coffee Cup and as a car hop where she first met our Dad, were happy times for her. Ronald Lybyer caught her attention with his witty charm, and captured her heart with his love and confidence in knowing God meant for them to be together, which they were for over fifty years. Being the wife of a career military man offered it's rewards as well as it's challenges. Travel was a wonderful experience for our family. Exploring and learning about different countries, as well as many cities and states, was such a wonderful opportunity, with Mom heading up the many moves with packing and unpacking yet again. Her strong, stubborn and strict nature buoyed her as she was responsible for the household, as well as six children, when our Dad was deployed to Korea and Vietnam for a year's tour during armed conflict. Having her brother once held prisoner of war for several years, made these experiences larger than life, yet she always put on a brave face for us. Running a household and being a mother to such large crew was just the tip of her talents. She was a wonderful cook, amazing seamstress and avid gardener. Generous and giving, always making room at her table or home for unexpected guests, and loving their company. She passed on her strength and hard work ethics to her children by the examples she set. She endured the loss of our father Ron Lybyer, as well as two daughters, Julia Lybyer and Michele Rodriguez with sadness yet strength and dignity, forever the solid force that keeps the family strong and united. United we were, November 29, 2016, the day she joined our Dad and sisters. Her beautiful, peaceful passing was her final gift to us. We shared the experience with her, as a family, encircling her in love, in prayer and in gratitude for the wonderful blessings she brought to our lives. We will always love and miss you mom. The sunshine you brought to the world will never be forgotten and forever live in our hearts.

Love, your children

Leslie, Renee, Curtis and Cathy
