Mr. James Harold DeLong, age 73, of Whitesburg, GA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family. He was a retired butcher from A & P. He and his wife and lifelong partner of 55 years, Janette and Harold DeLong ran J and H Deer Shop for 30 years in Whitesburg, GA with the help of all of the “adopted sons” for the 30th year. Harold was born November 14th, 1943 in Atlanta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Franklin DeLong and Dollie Corley DeLong Hudgins and an infant sister, Rennie Jane DeLong.
He is survived by his wife, Janette; two sons Richard Lee DeLong and Larry (Joe) DeLong; daughter-in-law Shannon Cox DeLong; cousins, Bobby Corley, Don and Nettie Corley, Jean and Pete Little, Janice and Jack Paulk, Betty DeLong, and Becky Almond; sisters-in-law, Fay Gaydon and Jerry Fields, Peggy and Verl Walter, Billy and Becky Thackston, Randy and Robin Thackston. He had many nieces and nephews, friends and hundreds of devoted customers.
As with the family’s wishes, he will be cremated. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Whitley Garner, Rosehaven Chapel in Douglasville, GA from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family asked that contributions be made in his name to Tanner Hospice Care, 150 Henry Burson Drive, Suite 102, Carrollton, Georgia 30117.
