Ruth Dean Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 30, 2016.

Ruth Agnes Dean passed away November 29, 2016 at Parkwood Meadows assisted living center. She was born July 26, 1932 in Rockford, IL to Homer and Catherine Shallcross. On October 15, 1949, she married Richard Dean. They made their home in Rockford, IL where they had two sons, Richard JR and Craig William. In 1954 they moved to Westminster, CO where they had their daughter, Valerie Kay. They made their home there for twenty years. In 1974, they moved to Idaho Falls, ID with their daughter. They were later divorced. Ruth loved people and people loved Ruth. In Colorado, she worked at the department store, The Denver.
In Idaho, she spent years working with the developmentally disabled at such places as Child Development Center, Joshua D. Smith Foundation And Options, Inc. She loved working with the clients. A lot of them would see her years later and say "Hi, Ruth Dean". They loved her back. After she retired, she became a foster Grandma for District 91. She spent most of her years at Templeview Elementary. The kids wore her out, but she loved every minute of it and looked forward to her day!
Ruth was a devout member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Alter Guild. We loved to sit in the congregation and hear her beautiful voice which we could pick out above all others. She was one of the sweetest angels on earth and everyone that knew her loved her. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Valerie (Joe) Idaho Falls, daughter-in-law Drucy CO, grandchildren Karen CA, Stephanie (Chris) Idaho Falls, Bobbi (Brandon) Idaho Falls, James (Kallie) Idaho Falls, Deanna (Sean) CO, Tracey CO, 17 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons, Rick and Craig, her parents, Homer and Catherine, and three brothers and five sisters: Howard, Pat, Garrett, Lorraine, Jean, Katherine, Charlotte, and MaryAnn.
Services will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 270 N. Placer, with The Reverend Susan Elizabeth Speir officiating on January 22 at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the church organ fund at St. Luke's.

Ruth was a wonderful person. We worked on the same altar guild team and she was such a joy to be around. I love how she would hug you and tell you that she loved you. She will truly be missed.

I new Ruth for many years and gave her communion (which she loved). I took her to church when she was able. I grew to love her very much and will truly miss her wonderful saying "God Bless You". Nancy J.
