Mr. Arthur Smith age 67 of Corbin, KY departed this life on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 in the Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin. He was born in Knox Co. on March 23, 1949 to Cloyd and Mary (Mills) Smith. He was a member of the Beech Springs Missionary Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He had been a cabinet maker during his life. Early in life he united with Joyce Faye (Mills) Smith and to this union two children were born. She preceded him in death and he later married Susan Warfield. Along with his first wife he is also preceded in death by his parents, Cloyd and Mary Smith, one son Christopher Lois Smith one brother, Ford Smith and two sisters, Lena Mae Foster and Marie Jordan.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirty three years, Susan Smith of Corbin, KY, two daughters Davena Smith Garcia and husband Steven and Frances Jones all of Corbin, one son Samuel Smith and wife Devonna of Brookville, Indiana, four brothers, George Smith and friend Lucy Deaton of Barbourville, R. B. Smith and wife Jean of Brookville, Indiana, Johnny Smith and wife Redina of Hamilton, Ohio and Dave Smith and wife Elaine of Brookville, Indiana. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren with one other on the way and a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Arthur Smith will be conducted on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alvin Dunn and Rev. David Smith, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers will be Samuel Smith, Steve Garcia, Justin Johnson, S.T. Mills, Matthew Hinkle and Whitley Jordan, Jr. He will be laid to rest in the Tommy Broughton Cemetery at Road Fork. Hampton Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hampton Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
