BEDEL, Jerome "Jerry" E.70, of Marana, AZ (formerly of Rushville, IN) passed away on December 9, 2016, at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born on July 22, 1946 to Andrew and Helen (Schwering) Bedel. He graduated from New Salem High School in 1964.
He moved to Marana, AZ, in 1972 where he worked in a copper mine for over 30 years. He also worked as a farrier for many, many years. He loved horses and spent his spare time riding and working with his horses. Two more of his past times were fishing and watching Arizona basketball.
Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Jaymie Bedel (Dave Horn) of Texas; his beloved grandson, Coty Bedel and beloved granddaughter, Shelby Bedel both of Texas. Also surviving are his special friend, Ellen Shook of Marana, AZ; brothers, Alvin, Auburn KY, Tom (Diana) Bedel, Rushville, IN and Jim (Lillian) Bedel, Milroy, IN; sisters, Carolyn (Wes) Shupert, New Castle, IN, Margaret (John) Kussmaul, Valparaiso, IN, and Mary Ann Pfleging, West Terre Haute, IN; many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Marine Corp Staff Sergeant Darrin Bedel; his sister, Mary Jo Coffin; brother-in-law, Ron Coffin; brother-in-law, Jay Pfleging; sister-in-law, Sandy Bedel and niece, Mary (Shupert) Duncan.
A Celebration of life will be held at a future date of the family's choosing. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements by East Lawn Palms Mortuary.
