William “Billy” Patrick Noel of Cross Lanes, lost his battle with cancer on December 17th, 2016 at age 69. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jack and Patricia Noel. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances (Fran) Noel and two daughters, Kristina Monroe and Kimberly Hill and his sister Linda Kincaid. He also is leaving behind five Grandchildren he loved dearly; Kelsea Stone; Joseph Monroe; Nathan Monroe; Aubrey Hill and Logan Hill. He had many wonderful friends which he cherished with special mention to Bobby Deitz; David “Randy” Legg; Charley Acela and Bobby Kinder.
He was an avid WVU fan and he loved his Mountaineers since he was a young boy. He loved them so much he felt that donating to the Human Gift Registry was his last way of giving. He retired from CSX Railroad with 41 years of service. Billy was an animal lover and always carried dog and cat food in his car and in his grip while working, so if he saw one that he could help, he was ready. For that reason, we ask that in lieu of flowers donate to your local animal shelter in his memory.
A memorial service will be held on January 7th, 2017 at 11:00 am at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Rd., Cross Lanes, WV 25313 with Father Stan Holmes officiating. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.tylermountainfuneralhome.com.

Our condolences to Billy's family. His passing is a loss to all of us who knew and loved him. We'll miss his warmth and friendship, his enthusiastic and in-depth discussions about everything WVU, and in seeing his love and care of animals expressed every day. We have made a donation to St. Louis Stray Rescue in his name and memory.

I first met Billy in June of 2008, at the Coliseum in Morgantown, and had the pleasure of being with them on about five other occasions, including a memorable visit in Cross Lanes with him and his mother and Billy's uncle, Jerry West. Billy bled WVU gold and blue and he was such a wonderful person to be around and to be with. This country was built on the backs of people like Billy, and I mean that in the best and richest sense. I last saw Billy in Morgantown, in June of 2016. He had come with some friends for the opening of the Jerry West Collection at the special collections library. It happened to be West Virginia Day, and he was happier to be there than anybody. He was devoted to his wife and children and to his grandchildren. What better thing can you say about someone than that?
