Jerry Harlan Chancellor, 70, of Pearcy, passed away on December 22, 2016. Jerry was born in Boonville, Arkansas to the late Joshua Henry and Ida Thelma Chancellor.
Jerry proudly served in the Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After attending Arkansas Tech he again decided to serve, this time in the capacity of an Arkansas State Trooper with Troop K. He was a driver’s license examiner for many years and in fact, wrote the test which was used until 2001. He retired as Senior Corporal after 33 years and 9 months of service.
Jerry immensely enjoyed being outdoors especially fishing, shooting his guns, and long motorcycle trips on his beloved Goldwing. It was on one of these long motorcycle trips in the mountains of Colorado that a bandana Jerry was wearing happened to dye his head blue- earning him the nickname “Blue Head” among his motorcycle group.
The only thing Jerry loved more than Razorback and Cowboy football was his family. His children Jerry Chancellor Jr. (Sophia), Samantha Arendell (Ray), and Michael Chancellor will miss their father, but will continue his legacy with stories of his kindness and generous spirit which they will share with his ten grandchildren and great grandchild. Jerry is also survived by Gloria, his wife of 43 years and siblings Maida Godwin, Annette Brackett, Cleo Moore, Rowan Rennie, and Dwayne Chancellor.
Jerry will be greeted in Heaven by his parents and siblings Andy Nelson Chancellor, Velta Lee Boersma, and Margueret Hunt.
Pallbearers will be Robert Chancellor, Trey Chancellor, Joshua Chancellor, Matthew Chancellor, Alan Stricklin and Rod West.
Honorary pallbearers include Colonel Bill Aikins, Corporal Ronnie Welch, Duvall Moore, Richard Lloyd, the Lake Hamilton School District and Troop K of the Arkansas State Police.

I haven't seen Jerry since high school but I have always remembered him. He was a true friend and a fun guy. My best friend Jimmy Joe Pennington and I used to ambush Jerry and try to wrestle him to the ground. He was bigger than either one of us and even together Jerry usually won the match. Lest anyone think this was bullying it was not. We really liked each other and the wrestling always ended in a fit of laughter usually with Jimmy and I both pinned to the ground. Glad to see that Jerry had a successful career and a wonderful loving family. I will miss Jerry even though we have not been in touch in years but he is just one of those people that was significant in my life. Sherman Huff
